Organizational Citizenship Behaviors (Individual Performance)

Employee’s performance is subject matter for forever. Companies adopt new system, policy & procedure to enhance employee’s performance. There are lots of new applications are getting developed to enhance employees/ group / peer performance, all these relate to employees in- role activity. There is job description in-role activity. Through in- role activity employer emphasis on employee’s productivity and quality and employee’s performance are measures periodically through their evaluations. There is one where less employer focus on employee’s OCB (Organizational Citizen Behaviors) 

OCB (Organizational Citizen Behaviors) is an extra job role or employee’s behavior which add more value or help employee for outstanding performance at work. It can be understand by employee’s behavior at work place. If we compare in role performance and extra role performance OCB seems to be great and growing in organizations. There are many forms of OCB’S, here only talk about five OCB behaviors.

Helping and Motivating co-workers
Organizational Loyalty
Individual Imitative
Self-development
Sportsmanship

Helping and motivating co-workers: It has been observed in organizations where most employees help his co-workers when they need. Under this role an employee foresights future problem and think how to prevent them. Under this behavior actions that helps to prevent, resolve or mitigate unconstructive interpersonal conflict.

Organizational Loyalty: In this behaviors, employees contribute for organizational good reputation in the community. For example taking part in CSR (Corporate social responsibility and growing green programs. There are lots of employee who spend their whole life in a company. They work honestly for company and never want company get loss by any means or by any way. They give their 100 percent to maximize company cost saving. One of my friend told me that due to his effort company made additional saving 1 million from a subcontractor. It was totally additional profit for company from that project where he worked. It become possible due to his effort.

Individual Initiative; when employees maintained properly their attendance, punctuality, proper focusing on quality and quantity of work done, proper housekeeping at work area. Proper uses of resources and avoid wastage. Under this behavior employee do the work accordingly and try to work new ways. And think and recommended to managers or management for new idea for improving productivity, reducing organizational cost, employees health, employees mental health and work from home and freedom at work.

Self-Development: this behavior these day rapidly growing in the organizations and employees are more focusing on self-development. They taking vocational classes, learning new set of skills and obtaining certificates. Through this they are improving their knowledge, skill, and ability so as to be better able to contribute to the organization. 

Sportsmanship: in the behavior employee reacts a citizen like posture of tolerating the inevitable inconveniences and impositions of work without grievances. They work considering core value of organization. They work keeping in the mind safety, health, quality, environment issue and productivity.
